Maybe Viewing Life From Different Perspectives Can Help Us Live Better Lives
Imagine seeing all of life that has ever happened, the past and the present moment all at once.
We live in an era that is referred to as the Media Age. A lot of information is at our finger tips, communication is at its peak and social platforms are booming, but the thing about this is that we can easily get carried away especially by social platforms.
Many people spend so much time consuming information that may never be useful to them, a lot of people are distracted by the constant buzzing of their smartphones and are constantly on Twitter or Instagram. No doubt these platforms have a lot of benefits to us but it’s easier to conciously search for information on the internet and find some of the answers we’ve been looking for.
If we could take time each day to reflect on things happening right now on earth and the things that happened before we were we’ll find ourselves asking deeper questions about our environment and life in general, this in turn would affect our decision in life and guide us through our time here on earth.
The knowledge we have today is as result of the foundation people before us laid out and others built upon. Think of Albert Einstein for example, he changed our understanding of gravity and what time is in the universe, before then Sir Issac Newton already laid out a foundation on the idea of gravity and what motion is. In their times they had a lot less of what distracts us today maybe that’s why they way able to achieve all they did. Think of the daily lives of those astronomers who would stay up several nights pointing their telescopes to the sky just to discover a new planet or view and understand the stars.
When we try and do this you’ll see that just like us these people had daily lives and many of them dedicated their lives in understanding what was going on in their environment and trying to improve the way they lived. The technology and communication we enjoy today is as a result of several men and women dedicating their lives to researching and learning new ways to improve the way we interact, social platforms were created by people, rockets and cars, boats, aircrafts and submarines were all ideas worked towards and we still have men and women dedicating their lives to several things that could potentially improve our standard of living. Elon Musk may never make it to Mars but he has laid out a foundation for future colonization of another planet in the solar system by humans.
It might be a bit overwhelming to think of, but you don’t necessarily have to invent something first, it might be a 9–5 you work at a financial institution, the point is we could find peace doing our jobs wholeheartedly having in mind that the work we’re putting into what we do is going to have an influence on people around and even the people yet to come.
If we could take time each day to reflect on the things around us and think of how much work has been put in by others to achieve things we enjoy maybe that could give us the motivation to dedicate our lives to the the things we enjoy doing and help us find our purpose.
Set out time to reflect on life and research on the things you’ve always been curious about, dedicate yourself to your job or the things you enjoy doing having in mind that you’re impacting society in your own way. Maybe when we so this we can find purpose and we see life much more differently giving it more meaning to us. Also don’t forget to enjoy life because problem nor dey finish!
