The amount of noise in the world is exhausting. School shootings, wars, politics, and other issues keep the news going.

Every minute, social media bombards you with notifications. You can’t stop scrolling on Instagram.

You also have to deal with a negative train of thoughts that moves through your mind. You have to deal with work because nobody is coming to save you.

The noise wears you out, and you realize days go by so fast that you do not have time for yourself.

You crave peace in your head.

Silence is powerful because, within it, you have great insights. You have time to listen to your thoughts and think.

“I’ve begun to realize that you can listen to silence and learn from it. It has a quality and a dimension all its own.”

Chaim Potok

The constant noise from the outside world makes it hard to sit and look deep within ourselves.

The Power Is Within You

When was the last time you were without your phone? When was the last time you were alone?

Silence awakens your awareness and allows you to listen to yourself. It is a powerful tool that helps you discover your true nature. It is the key to unlocking your potential and helping you control your mind.

You can connect the dots in your life. You can have honest conversations with yourself.

To harness the power of silence, whether you live with people or alone, you must make time to think.

Alone time would give you the chance to reflect on questions like:

  • Who am I?
  • What are my curiosities?
  • What is most important to me?
  • What is my relationship with people?
  • Where am I messing up?
  • What Impact do I want to have on the world?
  • What is something I am proud of about myself?
  • What is something I am not proud of about myself?
  • What do I try to avoid?
  • How are my habits affecting my life?

These questions help us escape from the world into ourselves. We discover ways to tackle our problems and develop our creativity through curiosity.

Eckhart Tolle says:

True intelligence operates in silence. Stillness is where creativity and solutions to problems are found.

Are you not tired of the constant and irrelevant distractions? Aren’t you bored of receiving useless information?

Block out the noise and make space in your head for things that would benefit you.

Staying connected to the world is good, but only you know what is essential to achieve what you want.

FOMO(fear of missing out) is a natural reaction to the news and social media. We are social beings, and we need that connection.

We also need to have great insights about ourselves.

To Conclude

I encourage you to practice being quiet.

Let the people around you know you need time to be alone, turn off your phone and reflect.

Remember to ask yourself questions about your life and personal goals. Listen to yourself, and you’ll receive insights about your life you’ve never paid attention to.

“Listen to silence. It has so much to say.”

Rumi
